Effective April 7, 2014
The New Classes of Practitioners regulation pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) is a federal legislation that was passed in 2012. Mandatory education is one of the requirements of this legislation. RN(NP)s must successfully complete an education module in order to prescribe drugs listed in this legislation.
The module is offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
You will learn the processes related to the possession, administration, prescribing and selling and transportation of medications listed in Schedule 3 of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Saskatchewan Prescriptive Review Program. The course focuses on how to use these medications safely and appropriately in the pharmacotherapeutic management of your clients' conditions.
