 RN Specialty Practices

(within the RN general category)

Over the last few years the SRNA has been involved in creating new processes that will replace the existing Transfer of Medical Function (TMF) process which will cease by December 1, 2016.

Three new processes have been created:

The RN with additional authorized practice RN(AAP) for RNs working in northern primary care settings

RN Specialty Practices (RNSPs) for all RNs

Physician to RN Delegation for RNs working in areas specifically identified in the College of Physician and Surgeons of Sask. bylaws

The following resources have been created to replace the initial standards document for RN Specialty Practices of 2015:

Standards & Competencies for RN Specialty Practices 2016

RN Specialty Practices Learning Module

RN Specialty Practices: RN Guidelines 2016

RN Specialty Practices: Employer Guidelines 2016

The 2016 standards document and guidelines will assist members and employers in understanding RN Specialty Practices and facilitate the development and implementation of RNSPs throughout the province.

We invite you to click on the links that follow and familiarize yourself with this new process and how it will affect your RN practice.
