Delegation from physicians to RNs

(within the RN general category)

Over the last several years the SRNA has developed new processes that facilitate the provision of registered nursing activities; those that fall within the scope of RN, and those that fall outside the scope of the RN and within the medical scope of practice. Since 1993, the latter activities have been addressed by the SRNA Transfer of Medical Function (TMF) process, which will continue to be in effect until the end of 2016 when it will be dissolved. The Medical Professions Act, 1981 and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) bylaws were revised to allow physicians to delegate activities to other health professionals including RNs. This bylaw is now in effect.
